The Art of Arranging Flowers by Lynne Branard

The Art of Arranging FlowersThe Art of Arranging Flowers by Lynne Branard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC from publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Art of Arranging Flowers started out very slow for me. I stopped reading in the first 4% of the book and read several other things before finally coming back to it and I'm so happy I did! This is a poignant tale of a small town florist named Ruby Jewell who has an incredible knack for knowing just the right flowers to send for any occasion and is responsible for saving many a marriage and mending many broken hearts except her own heart which never healed from the devastating loss of her sister, Daisy twenty years ago. She is content in her little home with just herself, her dog Clementine, and a small group of close friends til an unexpected encounter with an astronaut, a ten year old boy, and a small town veterinarian set her on the path to healing and opening her heart to love again.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC in exchange for honest review.

Warning! You MUST read book one A Vampire's Promise first as this book is NOT a standalone.

Rowan and Gabriel are back together but he is still keeping secrets from her about what exactly being his Promise means among other things and her life has taken some very dangerous turns. Katja, the psychotic female vampire with the fatal attraction to Gabriel is still out there and is gunning for Rowan. Why? Cause she's a whack job who believes if she can't have him then neither can Rowan!

A Vampire's Promise (Vampire's Promise #1) by Carla Susan Smith

A Vampire's PromiseA Vampire's Promise by Carla Susan Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

ARC from publisher in exchange for honest review.
This is my first time reading this author but the story sounded good and she didn't disappoint me! This was an excellent book, worth picking up if you are a fan of paranormal romance.
Rowan is a twenty-something slightly socially awkward woman who works in a book store who happens to catch the eye of the incredibly gorgeous and mysterious Gabriel one night when she is out with her friend. Rowan is unable to comprehend Gabriel's interest in her but after some initial distrust as to his motives she slowly opens up to the idea of having a relationship with him, even though she believes he may be doing something illegal. A Vampire's Promise ends on a cliffhanger with Rowan finally learning Gabriel's secret in a heartbreaking and painful way, which leads into the second book, A Vampire's Soul.

Hope at Dawn (Of Love and War #1) by Stacy Henrie

Hope at Dawn (Of Love and War, #1)Hope at Dawn by Stacy Henrie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hope at Dawn is a historical fiction set in Iowa in 1918, during World War I where in certain areas it was very nearly seen as a crime to be of German descent. A foreign language law had been passed by the governor and it was illegal for anyone to speak anything other than English in public. There were Liberty Bond drives that people were forced to buy by overzealous neighbors to prove that they were not affiliated with the kaiser, or risk being tarred and feathered, have their home and business painted yellow to signify to others that this person was German and couldn't be trusted.
Friedrick and Olivia come from two different worlds, he is the son of German immigrants, she is the school teacher daughter of a farming family with "not so suspect" ethnicity. Hope at Dawn tells the story of how they learn to fight racism for the sake of love.

I had read book 2 in this series and wasn't too crazy about it but I liked this one a lot. The characters are likeable and the chemistry between the two mc's is awesome. A very entertaining read!

This was a satisfying conclusion to the zombie apocalypse. I'm a big fan of happily ever after even during the end of the world and this book delivered big time.

I Am The Weapon aka Boy Nobody

Boy Nobody (The Unknown Assassin, #1)Boy Nobody by Allen Zadoff
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a good solid read for a young adult. There is a lot of violence, obviously because the MC is a boy who is an assassin for a group called "The Project" but it's not too gory or overdone. I would recommend this to teens 13-18 (or slightly younger depending upon their maturity level!)
