When I started this book, what attracted me to it was the paranormal aspect and the fact that I had never heard of the author. I love discovering new voices and Angie Sandro doesn't disappoint! Dark Paradise blew me away with the carefully built world of bayou people whose superstitious beliefs about a family of witches leaves one young girl (Mala) feeling like an outsider and a young man (Landry) who watches her, uncaring of the rumors and only longing for the courage to talk to the beautiful girl. I fell in love with the characters and the mystery surrounding the death of Lainey, Landry's sister. This story will draw you in and leave you wanting more!

Only With You was an incredibly funny, sexy, fast paced read! I can't believe how much I loved this book! Sophie is a classic underachiever who I completely identify with. Gray is an uptight CEO who mistakes Sophie for a Vegas prostitute upon their first meeting thanks to a pair of hooker boots she was wearing for a Skank themed bachelorette party. Sophie is absolutely mortified and as soon as she arrives home to Seattle quits her job at a seedy bar and vows to change her party girl image. Her sister shows up to family dinner with her boyfriend, who is new in town and it's Gray, the jackass CEO who just so happens to looking for an executive assistant. Sophie uses the opportunity to make the man who devastated her at least help out her employment situation and manages to get herself hired at his company. This is a hilariously told tale of contemporary romance that had me laughing out loud and reading til the wee hours!

This book was pretty good. The three stories were suspenseful, if not a bit lacking in depth. For instance the first short story was about some teen girls who were vying to be Queen of Hearts for a Valentines Day dance and one by one the girls who were in the lead were dying in unusual ways. I'm pretty sure the other girls in the contest wouldn't just pretend their friend didn't exist and be excited that now they are in the lead. It just seemed shallow. The second story had a bunch of high school kids putting on a haunted house and they had headed up to a remote lodge to set it up where they become trapped by a rock slide blocking the road. Again, the reactions to the deaths of their beloved friends seem a bit... off. "Ohhhh no! So and do is dead??? Well let's store the body and get on with the next skit." Um.... wow. The last story was pretty cool, about some college students who were employees of a new mall that was getting ready to open who got stuck there when a blizzard hit. All in all the mysteries were good, it was just the way she kept the first two going that bugged me personally. All that said I truly believe that someone in their mid teens would enjoy this book.

This time the duo have returned to Miss Plumtartt's ancestral home in England where they have many strange characters lurking about and need the help of a popular Victorian Era detective to get out of the fix they're in alive! This was another charming edition of The Adventures of Ichabod Temperance.

The City by Dean Koontz is an incredible adventure of a young African-American boy growing up during one of the most turbulent times in history, the late 1960's. It's the story of a boy that loves his city and a city that loves him back. It is told by Jonah as a 57 year old man, reminiscing about the events that would change the direction of his life forever, and the people who helped shape those events.

Jonah Kirk was a young musical prodigy who, over the span of three years learns about mystery, magic, and more than a little bit about the everyday heroes that make up the world around him. There are more then a few touches of the mystical world that you may be accustomed to when you read a Dean Koontz novel but the sole purpose of Jonah's coming of age tale seems to be how everyday people can be extraordinary if given the right circumstances. The City is an incredible book left me wanting more.

I absolutely adore Ichabod and Persephone and their insane adventures set in a steampunk world of the past. This newest adventure lends a War of the Worlds/Mars Attacks vibe when our closest neighbor in our interstellar neighborhood decides to evict humans in a most ex sanguineous manner... in other words they're out to suck our blood and Mr Temperance and Miss Plumtartt are the only people who are able to stop them! In a funny little side note, the names of the town and the peoples inhabiting their world are a hoot.

The second book of the adventures of Ichabod Temperance and Persephone Plumtartt was nearly as enjoyable as the first. A very well written and imaginative tale, A Matter of InTemperance was a fun continuation to our favorite steam punk couple.
